Our Story

Born in Hawaiʻi. Built for tiny hands, tender gums, and parents who don’t settle.

Our first two were teething at the same time (yes, really). We went looking for something safe to hand them — something we actually felt good about putting in their mouths. What we found was a lot of plastic, a lot of vague labeling, and a whole lot of shapes that only a toy designer could love. Nothing that felt like it belonged in a Hawaiian home.

So we made our own.

Hāpai means “to carry” in ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi — the Hawaiian language. It also means “pregnant.” We liked that it held both meanings at once: the weight of carrying a child, and everything that comes after. That felt like the right name for what we were building.

The monstera leaf came naturally. It’s the plant on every lānai, in every garden, plastered on every surf shop wall from Haleiwa to Kihei. It’s home. And it turns out a monstera leaf makes a surprisingly great teether — the lobes hit different spots in the mouth, the ridges soothe, the ring handle fits little fists better than a straight grip ever could.

We made it from 100% food-grade silicone. No dyes. No fillers. No BPA. No mystery ingredients. We exceed every safety standard because “meets the standard” was never good enough for our kids, and it’s not good enough for yours either.

We’re Hawaiian-owned, Maui-raised, and building this brand for families who care about what touches their babies. Five colorways, one shape, all aloha.
